MAGA Evangelicals have nothing to do with the acts and sayings of Jesus of Nazareth. Their brand of Christianity is a blend of militarism, misogyny, greed, power, and violence. They thrice overwhelmingly voted for a man who embodies none of the ideals advocated by Jesus and who has broken (and continues to break) at least 8 out of the Ten Commandments. Here are some of the sayings from the New Testament which demonstrate how far the American MAGA Evangelicals have strayed: In Matthew 5:39 Jesus rebukes MAGA's affinity for violence, revenge, and retribution: "But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also." (NIV) In Matthew 25:35 Jesus contradicts the MAGA stance of anti-immigration and their disdain for helping the least amongst us. "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." (NIV) In Matthew 5:44 Jesus directly opposes the aggressive rhetoric, hatred, and personal attacks which characterize the behavior of Trump and MAGA: "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." (NIV) In Matthew 26:52 Jesus takes an anti-war, anti-military, and anti-aggression stance: "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword" (NIV) In Luke 14:11 Jesus directly contradicts the very nature of who Trump is, a braggart who is only interested in himself: "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." (NKJV) And in Matthew 19:24 Jesus directly states that wealthy people cannot go to heaven which contradicts the worship of the rich and powerful which characterizes MAGA, the RNC, and the DNC too: And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." (KJV) And I realize I am rejecting millions of people's belief system. But why am I so sure that I am right while they are wrong?...well, because the Bible tells me so.
