This work is actually a painted print I had made of an intermediate stage of my first Carrie Fisher portrait. My first painting was done in the grisaille method first (black and white underpainting) and then I used oils to glaze color on top. I realized that I liked the black and white stage as much, or more, than the final color version.
Here I used oil glazes to fully realize the image I had in my mind. And I fully believe it captures the essence of Princess Leia in a the manner in which I first conceived.
