Music: John Legend “All of Me”
This is my portrait of Mary and her daughter Porsche. Mary was of one of my favorite professors when I was getting my teaching certificate. She had seen my art and commissioned me for this painting. Mary was tall and elegant and her daughter was actually only four years old when I took the photographs for the work; but she seemed tall enough for a seven or eight year old. I’m quite sure they are both taller than me now.
This was one of those easy paintings were everything just went right and the work just flowed. I was half way through when I was already regretting the fact that I would have to give the painting to Mary. I spent the last half of the painting scheming of various devious manners in which I could somehow back out of the commission and keep the painting for myself; for I liked it so very much. But my honesty got in the way:)
